Mason Jar Crafts Part 2

Jayme's Party

Hello,
As promised I have some pictures of the table decorations I made for Jayme's Birthday party. My ideas stemming from the Mason Jar Crafts book. I cringe when I see a bunch of kids grabbing at snacks in a large bowl, so what I decided to do was put the snacks in Mason Jars and have them pour out what they wanted onto their plates!  It also saved room on the table, and I was able to add some more colour to the table by using matching design paper.

I really like the way it added that extra little something, and they only took me about 5 minutes to make!  What an easy way to make a table pretty, versatile too and re-usable.  I even took one of the small ones to work for my almonds, making sure to find a lid to keep them fresh.

Let me know what you think!  And again,

this book can be found HERE.
It is truly a gem.

Have a wonderful Saturday.
Hugs,
Tanya

Mason Jar Crafts

Good Morning!

I was fortunate enough to get a copy of Mason Jar Crafts -by Lauren Elise Donaldson.  This amazing, splendid, and fascinating idea book has me stocking up on Mason Jars.   As I read through the pages, I find myself eager to try out several of them.  Over the next month I will be posting some of the creations that my girls and I have crafted with help of this idea book.  Some of the ideas I currently have are;

  • Creating treat jars.  I am going to switch up the fabric for some zoo like papers, and use this Mason Jar idea for my daughters 7th birthday party.
  • Creating Herb Jars for the winter months using sprigs out of my garden and the Mason Jars.
  • The clock!  Oh boy, I may save this one for last.
  • The Piggy bank.

  • And so many more ideas.............................

    Oh the endless possibilities.

Should you want your copy and do not want to wait for my showcasing, by all means, hop on over to Ulysses Press.  I can guarantee this is not your average book,  you will not be disappointed.

    Have a splendid day,
    Hugs

Crafting Calm- by Maggie Oman Shannon

    Hello,

Wondering what I have been up to lately?

I am currently reading Crafting Calm, (Viva Editions, May 2013) by Maggie Oman Shannon.

This book had me in the very beginning.  During the introduction the author talks about seeing gems out of things that others would perceive as junk.  She talks about her collections, and the things she makes.  I let out a laugh when she wrote "if you have read this far....you are one of our tribe".

Not only does she talk about her love of craft, but she talks about the spiritual connection that comes with immersing ourselves into our crafts (our art).  The author also includes various excerpts from others about their spiritual journey through their arts.

The one chapter that stood out for me was the "Visual Journals" chapter.  I am a very visual person, and have wanted to start a Visual Journal, however being a perfectionist, I am stumped at where to start.  I have all the tools, I just have to jump in with both feet.

Each chapter (each craft) closes with an "Inner Inquiries for Journaling and Refection", and "Guides for the Path"  The author leaves us with questions that have us contemplating how to bring our craft to that next level of self fulfillment.   As well as references to help us on our journey.

I strongly recommend this book, it would make an amazing addition to anyone's craft room.  It is a nice and easy to read, and each chapter left me enlightened.  I will keep you all posted on how my Visual Journal is coming along.

    Happy Tuesday!

Pretty in Pink with a dash of Sparkle.

    Good Morning,

Using my VivaLasVegas Stamps ( Mary Vogel Lozinak Stamps ), I created this 4X4 pretty in pink card with a string of bling.

Stamping her in black, then pink and popping her up, gives a bit of dimension and allows for her to stick out rather than blend in.

What are you up to today?

    Stampotique Time

    Hello,

I am loving the Stampotique stamps my DH got me for Christmas in 2011. They are unique, and add a distinct uniqueness to the cards I make with them. Especially the stamps by Daniel Torrente and Jill Penney.

So sorry the image is a bit blurry, I have to find a new place to take pictures.  The canvas I was previously using was taken and used to create artistic pictures by my kiddos.  Not to mention that my batteries were running low as well.

This is going into the Stampotique Designer Challenge #94, Flowers.  The paper has flowers on it, she is holding a flower, and I cut the design paper out to make a flower.

    Happy Tuesday!

    VIVA Las Vegastamps

    Hi Peeps!

Another card, yes 2013 has me crafting.  I am LOVING the Mary Vogel Lozinak stamps from Viva Las Vegastamps.

I have switched from Prismacolor pencils to KOH-I-NOOR pencils.  They are like butter and they blend wonderfully with mineral oil and blending stumps.

The sentiment is from Inkadinkado, and the paper is from Stampin Up.

Yup using my stash and having a good time.

    Talk soon ladies,
    Hugs
    Tanya

    Challenges this qualifies for are
Stampvie and More: Pretty in Pink
    Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes

    Some Kraftiness

Hello, It has been some time since I posted, but I thought I would show you my latest kreations.

The above was a card made for my mother-in-law. My eldest Karlye has her sense of fashion, and shares her love for shoes; high heeled (clappy shoes as Karlye refers to them).

We were busy over the holidays, playing and baking. By the third batch of cookies (the first 2 did not make the cut as I messed up the recipes), we ended up with the delicious ones above. I hope all of you have a wonderful NEW YEAR! Hopefully you will see me post more.

    Hugs Tanya
P.S What were you up to this holiday season?
