Pixie Cottage Challenge #85

Good Morning,

Welcome back to another Once Upon a Wednesday, Pixie Cottage Challenge.  We are currently on challenge #85, and we are using the fab sketch above.  The theme for this challenge is "Back to School", and again, you can choose the sketch as I have, and/or the theme.

I went back and used one of the Pixie Cottage Bird stamps, found at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.  I layered it up using 3 ovals.  I saw one of our participants do just that a few weeks back, and decided to give it a go.  Thanks for the inspiration Hazel!

What will you create this week?  I stuck with the sketch, as I could not come up with any ideas for the theme, but I am sure you will be able to. Can't  wait to see your works of art!

Happy Wednesday,
Hugs

Saturday News

Hello,

Just thought I would pass along some news to all of you on this fine Saturday morning.  Viva Las Vegastamps has an offer for you.  By visiting HERE,  following the instructions on the right side of the page, and posting their blinky on your site, they will ship you a free Grab Bag of stamps.   No joke!  How super sweet is that.  Not to mention they have free shipping going on too until August 31st.

I also wanted to give Michelle's Scrapbooking and More and shout out.  Congratulations on your new store!  I am loving the pink, and I hope you are very successful.  If any of you live close to the Hartville Marketplace, be sure to stop by booth 196, and say hello to Michelle!

I also wanted to mention Heather's Stamping Haven. She has dedicated the whole month of August to raising money for "Victims of Violence".  She is also getting lot's of new stock, so be sure to drop in and say Hello as well.

I am off to find "Twinkle Toe" shoes for Karlye.  She learned to tie her own laces, and that was the only thing holding us back from getting them for her.  She has kindly reminded us, with a huge toothless grin that she indeed can get them now.  After that, I have a "Make and Take" at Heather's Stamping Haven, with all proceeds going to Victims of Violence. Not to mention squeezing in some park time as the sun is out in full force!

Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Tanya

PWCO Recipe Friday

Good Morning,

I am so super excited to show you this card! This weeks PaperWorks Co Friday Recipe Challenge#12  is a Photo inspiration Challenge. Is this picture not fabulous!!!!!!! Look at all the textures, colors and shapes. I attempted to mimic them in my card, by using similar shapes, colors and by popping up some of my punched out shapes with different degrees of thick foam tape.

I have had this paper in my stash for over 2 years, and I am just amazed that it went perfectly, it really justified my paper hoarding tendency. Makes me want to buy more paper now, LOL.  Can anyone relate, do you have a paper fetish too?  Oh and I have to mention my old school label maker, get a load of the Dynamo label tape on the left hand side, the blue matched perfectly, what luck.

Just to re-cap the PWCO rules, in order for your entry to be valid, you must use a PWCO image, and don't forget, they still have this FREEBIE.  I really do hope you play along, this photo inspiration would be a shame to go to waste.

Be sure to check out my team mate Corinne's entry she always makes me go WOW.

Happy Krafting!
Hugs,
Tanya

Pixie Cottage Challenge #84

Good Morning,

Challenge# 84 over at The Pixie Cottage this week has us using a pretty intense sketch, and the theme is "Summer Nights".  I have used the Pleasant Porch Pixie Cottage background stamp, and the ever so pretty Sitting Summer Willow stamp for my creation this week.  Both stamps are available for purchase at  Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

In attempts to make the scene look like it was a Summer's Night, I stayed with my Copic Blue tones. To subdue the red cherries on Willow's hat, and the yellow flowers on the porch swing, I went over them with my C4 Copic.  It really muted the colors, but that is what I was going for.  To make Willow's skin appear a bit darker, out came my C2, along with my E31, blending them with the E02 Copic.  It was fun to play around with this theme as my cards are usually done up to look like there is a source of sunlight shining upon them.

Well I guess I will keep is short and sweet today. But I do have to say I am looking forward to seeing what your take on the theme will look like.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

PWCO Recipe Friday #11

Good Morning!

This weeks Recipe Challenge #11 over at PaperWorks Co. is all about
"Getting Fruity- a twist of lemon/lime/coconut....." You can use the colours, them images or both!

The above card is my interpretation for this weeks challenge, and as usual I have a thought process that went along with it's creation. So here goes.... Coconuts have fibrous brown shells, so that had me reaching for my Kraft paper stash. I even decided to stamp and colour on the kraft cardstock as well. The PWCO/RAM Beary Best of Friends stamp fit right in with the recipe as well. They are sitting down, sharing that yummy basket of fruit.

The yellow and green are of course colours that represent the lemon and lime aspect of the recipe. I really like the way the colors pop off the Jillibean Soup design paper. I used to have these tiny beads that were shaped as apples, lemons, bananas etc. and they were always laying about. Funny thing is, now that I have kiddos, they seemed to have disappeared, so I had to improvise at 12:30 am and use yellow and green stickpins instead, tucked into my kraft ribbon. I really wanted to attach the lemons and limes though. Le sigh....

I do hope you decide to play along, and be sure to enter your creations if you do. Don't forget, you have to use a PWCO image, and if you don't have one, you are in luck, you can still grab the free digi HERE.

Happy Krafting ladies,
Hugs,
Tanya

Pixie Cottage Challenge #83

Good Morning,

Welcome to this weeks Pixie Cottage Challenge #83. You can choose to use the sketch above, and/or our "Big on Birthdays" theme. Mine is a Birthday Card, but I left the sentiment for the inside, so it is best to say that I at least followed the sketch.

My sister turns 15 this month, and so this card was made specifically for her. I chose Hannah at Fence, a lovely Pixie Cottage stamp.  I can just imagine her on a bright and warm sunny day, looking out into the big blue sky, making birthday wishes.  Just as I hope my sister is doing.  We are taking her out to see The Smurfs (her request), and I am a bit stumped at what else to get her.  Things were much easier when she was younger. She hates getting money, loves getting wrapped presents, so I have to come up with something!

Well I best be going.  I hope you are inspired enough to join us this week.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

Just Because.....

Good Morning,

I had some time to play, so I gathered up some items from my stash and did just that. Why you may ask, well "Just Because" I could.  This PWCO Wool Ewe stamp is always so much fun to play with.  I really love popping him/her up.  This time I took my circle punch, and then my scalloped circle punch and used them to create dimensions.  I used my Scor-Pal to create some lines in the pink cardstock, then a bit of washi tape to add a splash of bold color.  The rest was having fun matching the up the colors with my Copics.

So what have you been up to ladies?  What have you  created "Just Because"?

Have a fabulous Sunday,
Hugs,
Tanya

Good Morning,

TGIF!  Today the PWCO Recipe Friday #10 is a photo-inspiration challenge. My take involves using the pink, yellow, purple and orange from the photograph above.  I took it another step further and used design paper, the lines within the paper, and some well thought out paper cutting to try to reproduce the lines.  Did I succeed ladies?

My youngest daughter turned 5 on Tuesday. How bittersweet!  "Mommy I miss being 4" she says, and I can empathize with her because she is growing up way to fast.  Where I am going with this story is that I made this card specifically for her. She has recently taken up gymnastics, thus the PWCO Zoe the Gymnast stamp was chosen, as was the color purple because that is Miss Jayme's favorite color.  The yellow hair was again chosen to depict my daughter.  And I succeeded at making her happy because she smiled and said "That's me Mommy!"  And that made my day I tell ya.

Have a wonderful Friday ladies, I hope you decide to give this challenge a go.  Be sure to use a PWCO image, or your entry will not be valid.  Good Luck.

Hugs,
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #82

Good Morning,

Welcome to another "Once Upon a Wednesday" Pixie Cottage Challenge. We are using the wonderful Sketch above, and the theme for Challenge # 82 is "Say it With Flowers".

I used the Cuddly Cute Pixie Cottage stamp, to go along with the Amazing Friends sentiment. This stamp is available at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More, and also Heather's Stamping Haven in Ottawa.  The patterned paper was specifically chosen to incorporate the theme.  I really have a hard time inking up flowers, so I cheat. Well it may not be a cheat, but what I do is cut out the flowers on the design paper, and pop them up giving them dimension.  I then use them to embellish the card.  It is a very easy way to co-ordinate your creations  And that is my tip for the day :)

Well I am short on words it seems, but I do hope you all play along.  Summer is certainly the time to be inspired by flowers, so I think it will be easy to incorporate them into your work.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

PaperWorks Co. Recipe Challenge

Babies, Buttons and Bows
Good Morning,

For the month of August you will see me participating and creating in the PWCO Recipe Challenges. Corinne and I will be showing you our creations, and then urging you all to play along. Don't be shy, we love having you play along and inspiring us. In order to qualify for a prize though, you must use a PWCO image.

When I read over the recipe I was stumped.  What to do, what to do?  I knew I wanted to make a "Congrats/Baby Boy" card but that was about it. I had the May 2011 PWCO boy themed PWCO papercard kit sitting in front of me, along with my new Cutie Patootie "Frisbee" PWCO stamp, when all of a sudden I had my AHA moment, and the above was created.  The rest was all about adding color and texture with my Copics.  All the embellishments are from that May PWCO papercard kit too, I did not have to search through my stash at all.

It can be that easy ladies.  I am very eager to see what your take on this recipe will be!  Enjoy.

DRAMA QUEEN

Good Evening,

We all know one (or two) we all LOVE or disLIKE em, the ever popular (or not) DRAMA QUEEN.  I was inspired this week by the CPS sketch #229  to create this punning card.  I used PWCO's  Ollie the Octopus
one of the Aqua Amigo's and transformed him into a she.  I then stamped out a crown, added the gems, and finished it off by stamping the sentiments.

I have a sister, that I could technically call a Drama Queen, but it would be in an ever so loving manner, because in my eyes, she ROCKS!  So this will probably go to her, and she will probably laugh, a lot.

Have a good night,  I am experiencing a house with no kiddos or DH tonight.  They are up at the cottage.  It has been over 9 years since I spent an evening alone, boy does it feel odd. No worries though, they come back tomorrow.

Hugs, and happy krafting,
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #81

Good Morning,

This week, The Pixie Cottage's Challenge #81 has provided us with a fun sketch, and the theme this week is "Time to Learn (share a favorite technique)". I of course tackled the sketch, one of my favorite things to do.

As far as technique, well I like to play around with my Copics. There is a paint on the market that allows you to take a black and white photo and add color to it. I have seen Paola Levi's card using the same technique using Copics so I thought I would give it a go.  I took The Pixie Cottage background stamp At the Corner of...  and added BOO to the windows and R000 to the curtain. I then went over all of it with C1 to and continued to shade the rest of the image with C1, C3, and C5.  I then took my Kenny K stamp, purchased at Michelle's Scrapbooking and Moreand colored her in.  She is bold, and vibrant against the greyish backdrop. I like how she just POPS out.

I feel alive today, my family is enjoying the sunshine, and we are all enjoying the weekends together, outdoors doing some sort of physical activity.  What have you been up to?

Happy Krafting ladies,
