Metal Repousse Tutorial For The Pixie Cottage

The tools you will need for this type of work are ArtEmboss metal sheets (I chose to use the Copper sheet ), Stazon Ink, a thin foam sheet, a wooden stylus tool, and your choice of rubber stamp.

Stamp your image on your choice of metal sheet

Put your foam sheet underneath the metal sheet and start tracing around the areas you want to raise.

Turn the sheet over and add cross hatching, or simply push out the areas you want to pop up. Keep in mind you will be flipping the sheet around many times in order to get the details you want. The metal is forgiving, so have fun with it.

This took me about 20 minutes to complete, but as you can see from the flat image on the right, this technique gives you a 2 dimensional image, with a vintage feel to it.

Last but not least, I mounted it to my card using pop up dots.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial on metal repousse. It is gives you another medium to use all your fabulous stamps on. This is my first tutorial for The Pixie Cottage, please let me know how I did! Any useful tips or hints would be appreciated.

Have a wonderful Saturday ladies,
Hugs

Practical Scrappers Fabric, Felt or Tulle Challenge

Good Morning,

This weeks Practical Scrappers Challenge is to use Fabric, Felt or Tulle on your creations. I made the above card with a digital image and sentiment from Wink Wink Ink, another fabulous Practical Scrappers sponsor. I love the fact that this image came with two sentiments. The inside of the card reads "that I should wish you a Happy Birthday."

I got this paper celebration kit from Mosh Posh, and just had to use these sweet paper. The kit came with 3 tulle flowers, but the white one was just too large. As a result, I used Katie's fabric flowers tutorial to make a tulle one, and sewed a pink pearl in the center of it. I then added some extra girly brads to finish off the card.

I hope to see all your fabulous fabric, felt or tulle creations entered into this weeks challenge.

Happy Thursday Ladies,
Hugs

Pixie Cottage Challenge #20

Good Morning,

Today marks a new challenge over at The Pixie Cottage. Challenge #20 is to create a card using our Guest Sketch provided by Bev Rochester, and/or create a pocket or tag. I usually tackle both, but this week I stuck to the sketch. I chose to use Di Carubia's "Bunny with Roses" stamp and pop it up a bit. I hope the recipient enjoys the card.

I have to say I just love adding an odd number of embellishments to something. I had 4 buttons surrounding the bunny, as per the sketch, and I just had to add 5 sparkly heart gems. That makes 9 embellishments. Do you usually stick to an odd number when adding embellishments?

Michelle from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More has a wonderful Candy offer going on at the moment. I hope you drop in and leave a comment, and I also hope to see you participate in this weeks challenge. Keep in mind, it is not necessary to use a Pixie Cottage Stamp, although it would be nice. Simply follow the sketch, and/or make a pocket or tag on your creation.

Happy Wednesday!
Hugs

Good Morning Ladies,

Take a look at these fabulous new stamps by ArTish! I am loving these for sure. You can purchase them individually, or as a set at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More. You can also try your luck and try to win them here.

We made it through the first dress-up/make-up photo shoot yesterday, today is the practice for the recital. They don't have all their costume on, I will post another one if full garb later. But they sure do like to ham it up for Mommy and the camera.

Practical Scrappers Pattern Paper Challenge

Good Morning,

The Practical Scrappers challenge this week is to use pattern papers on your creations.

I chose my Glitz Design's "Sparrow" paper for this challenge, they also happen to be one of Practical Scrappers sponsors, which is how I came across these fab papers. I just love how rich their paper is in color, not to mention each paper has a matching solid color on the back of it. This makes it easy to match up colors when trying to use multiple pattern paper on one card.

The prize this week is 3 Digital Stamps from Wink Wink Ink. All you have to do is use your pattern paper, and you qualify to win. How EASY PEASY is that!

Hope to see your entries this week,
Hugs

Pixie Cottage Challenge #19

Good Morning!

I hope this day finds you well. This is my creation for this week's Pixie Cottage Challenge #19-3D/Decoupage/Paper Tole &/or Sketch . As usual, I jumped on Pam's fabulous sketch, and then proceeded to include the 3D/Decoupage aspect to my card.

Decoupage involves multiple layers of the same original image, so I stamped out multiple images and then cut out and poped up different sections to add dimension and layers to my card.

This is one of the NEW Pixie Cottage Stamps found at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More. It is Di Carubia's "Maisy & Matt's Wedding" stamp. I kept is black and white, as I find this to be my favorite color palette for weddings. Someone will have to get married now so I can gift this to them!

Don't forget that The Pixie Cottage challenges are always "Take Your Pick" and you can choose to do the sketch, the technique or both if you are feeling adventurous.

Have a great day,
Hugs
Tanya

Challenges I have entered this into this week are:

Happy Blogaversary!

This candy is now closed. I will announce the winner May 17th, 2010.

Exactly 1 year ago today, I posted my first card. I had been crafting with my friend Trina for some time, and then my friend Jenn showed me how to color with Prismacolor pencils and then blend with gamsol. Both Jenn and Sheena helped me start up my blog and I very much appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions, and for showing me the way. As you scroll through my blog, you will see that I have had some good days, and some bad days. But all of them have provided me with a learning experience, and fed my desire to create. I have recently embarked into the world of Copic markers, and hopefully one day I will get the hang of them. If not, I will have had fun trying.

The majority of this candy was generously donated by Michelle from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.
Heidi at 2 Cute Rubber Stamps has also donated 2 of her rubber stamps. Thank you so much ladies for helping me celebrate my 1 year blogaversary.

To qualify, please leave a comment, become a follower if you wish, and post this on your blog (sidebar is sufficient). I won't be checking this so no worries, I will be choosing a winner by Random.Org

For an additional ballot, if you have made, or make a purchase during the month of May at either stores, let me know, and I will add your name in for an extra chance.

I want to give a shout out to all my followers, and to my crafting friends. I wanted to leave a list but I was worried I would leave someone out. So I hope all know who you are, and that you feel appreciated.

Thank you for inspiring me ladies, and I hope to do the same for you.
Hugs
Tanya

Sugar Bowl Challenge #35

Hello,

This weeks Sugar Bowl Challenge is a Sketch by Marlene, and recycling is the topic. I recently purchased some more prisma pencils, and they packaged them in a brown paper bag. This entire card is made from that brown paper bag. I cut out the pieces, embossed them with my Sizzix machine, then inked them up. I like how it turned out, how about you?

It took me 3 tries (almost 2 hours) to get this guy inked with my Copics, and I feel so guilty because I feel like I am wasting paper and ink. But I guess that is to be expected when learning something new.

Have a great Sunday,

Hugs
Tanya

P.S. Thanks for this stamp Sunghee, I now have to think of something you may like, any suggestions?

Practical Scrappers Sketch Friday!

Good Evening,

Practical Scrappers has a wonderful Friday Sketch for you courtesy of Gloria Stengel. Will you play along with us please?

James needed a Mother's Day card, so this is what I created for my mother-in-law. She has blue eyes, tans well, and looks fabulous in turquoise, thus the paper choice. She had no idea I actually colored these little girls, she thought they came like that and I just stuck them on.

Have a wonderful Friday, we are going to the Museum on Sunday for some family time, and I just can not wait. I am way overdue for some family fun, with no time restraint.

Hugs.

Practical Scrappers Punch Challenge

Good Morning Ladies,

For this weeks Practical Scrappers Punch Challenge I used 4 punches to create this card. The first one I grabbed for was the scalloped border punch, as it is my all time favorite. To make the hanging tag attached to the ribbon, I used my scalloped circle punch and my large and small circle punch.

I love how this turned out, and when I was done all I could think of was "Look Ma, no coloring!" I did not use a stamped image as the focal point. I had a specific person in mind when I made this card, and it is has been posted. I hope it brings sunshine into her life when she receives it, just like the pretty yellow flowers on the desing paper.

Have a great Thursday,
Hugs

Pixie Cottage Challenge # 18

Good Morning,

This weeks Pixie Cottage Challenge #18 is a sketch provided by Suzanne Dean from Scrapbitz . You can follow the sketch, and/or use vintage/distressing on your creations. Once again, I chose both. The image I used was Barnie in Spring, a Pixie Cottage stamp by ArTish. The design paper was vintage, in my opinion considering I got it in a kit 3 years ago, and have not yet used it. I spritz it with Smooch to give it a more rustic feel, and then distressed the edges. To make matching embellishments I cut out the butterflies in the design paper, and adhered them to some acrylic stars. My DH says it looks Oriental, what do you think?

Please drop in and give this challenge a go, I would love to see what you do with the topic and/or the sketch.

Have a great day,
Hugs

P.S Don't forget Michelle's Scrapbooking and More has some fabulous candy at the moment!

Sweet Pea Stamps

Hi Ladies,

This was a stamp I had intended on giving as candy, but my darling daughter caught site of it and literally begged to have me ink it up. I tried to embellish this more, but I got stuck. The image is just so intense that anything else added made it looked cluttered.

Sweet Pea Stamps has their Flowers and/or Showers May challenge on this week, so I will pop this one in. I think next time I will emboss the orange cardstock. What do you think?

Here is Karlye's card. She is my 5 year old daughter. She gifted this to her friend at school.

Practical Scrappers Tutorial

Hello ladies,

I have a short video over at Practical Scrappers that shows just how I recycled my daughter's stickers for my previous post, and for use in the card above. Let me know what you think, and if you have a clever use for left over sticker bits, please let me know.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you, whether it be because you have children, or furry 4 legged babies, or simply for those ladies who have impacted someone's life by being kind, caring and giving.

Hugs
Tanya

P.S. Please drop in and view Heidi's 2 Cute Rubber Stamp Blog. She has monthly digital challenges, and she is currently selling her wood mounted stamps for 50% off on Etsy.

Practical Scrappers Sticker Challenge

Hello ladies,

This weeks challenge over at Practical Scrappers is Stickers. For this sticker challenge, I used my daughter's left over sticker remnants and my paper punches to create these circle and square sticker embellishments. They were the left over pieces from a sheet of Super Hero stickers that Karlye just had to have. They add a certain depth to the card, and I rather like how it turned out.

I created a video that should be posted on the Practical Scrappers website on Saturday, it shows exactly how I did this. I also made another card that will post with the video, showing the versatility of left over stickers. I feel pretty good knowing that even though the stickers are long gone, I was able to recycle the leftovers to make a card for someone.

How creative can you be with your stickers? I would love for you to post your creations over at Practical Scrappers. Who knows, you may be the lucky winner of some Wink Wink Ink digital stamps.

Happy Thursday,
Hugs
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #17

Good Morning,

This weeks challenge over at The Pixie Cottage is to use the sketch and/or make your own charm.I did both, again. The image I used was an older Pixie Cottage Stamp by Alisa Ramirez called "Savannah and Smiles", it can be found at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

For my charm, I took out my box of metal bits and a safety pin, added some beads, joined the other pieces together with a jump ring, and voila, my own charm. I was going to stitch but decided on piercing the paper instead.

I can't wait to see what creative charms you all come up with, or how you use the sketch.

Have a fabulous Wednesday,
Hugs
Tanya

Sugar Bowl Challenge #34

Hello,

I hope this gets posted, I have been having a hard time getting scheduled posts to work. This is my creation for this weeks Sugar Bowl Challenge. Once again Tiet has provided a wonderful sketch for us to use that is full of layers. We were also to use punches, and I used the oval punch, the scallop punch, the binder punch, and my small circle punch for the eyelet holes.

Have a great Wednesday,
Hugs

Card Request for Co-Worker

Hello,

I am super tired, my little one is coughing something bad, my eldest is having some issues at school, to which we have to teach her to be assertive, and to not allow others to be mean at her expense. All that being said, I had to finish a card for a co-worker after a full day of being away from my family, I just want to curl up and go to bed. Which I am just about to, after this brief post.

The hardest part about this card was making the name using my Sizzix die and my Crystal Effex to make them look like epoxy stickers. Not that it is hard per say, but tedious.

The Pixie Cottage Challenge this week is all about flowers. Hope to see you post your floral creations their. Speaking of stickers, Practical Scrappers would love to see what you can do with them for this weeks challenge as well.

Have a good start to the week,
Hugs
Tanya
