Missing in Action

Hello,

I have been pretty busy with the family and have to say I am exhausted. My children begged to stay home today, imagine that! So we did, and enjoyed our home and it's surroundings. I sat down last night to craft, and I found it really difficult. I have a couple of ideas, and other things I am working on, but first, here is my take on Whiff of Joy's Sketch Challenge #60. Instead of my typical bows, I played around with my buttons and ribbons. What are you working on right now?

This is one of my favorite papers! They are shimmery, and pretty thick as far as design paper goes. I hope to have more to show you soon. Oh and be sure to head over to Practical Scrappers too, they want to see your Winter Projects.

Hugs,
Tanya

Button-Up with The Pixie Cottage

"Button-Up" is this weeks challenge over at The Pixie Cottage. I was invited to be a guest designer during December, and I have enjoyed each and every moment. Thank You Michelle and all the other Pixies, it has been my pleasure working with such talented women.

The red buttons for this one came off a Christmas ornament, as I could not find any in my craft bin, nor could my neighbor. I just did not want to go out in the cold, so as a result I am going to fix the ornament tonight with the green ones I did find. I do apologize for the threading in the corner, I will have to fix this before it is gifted.

'Tis the Season so be sure to let the ladies at Practical Scrappers see your work.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you,
Hugs
Tanya

P.S. I used Mojo Monday Sketch #118 for this card.

My last batch

This is the weekend to get all the remaining cards in the mail. I started these in the summer, and just finished them Thursday night. I attempted to stitch on them but found it looked cluttered. Simple is sometimes better, and these are the finished products.
Have a great Sunday,

Fancy Folding for The Pixie Cottage

The Pixie Cottage's Saturday Showcase is all about Fancy Folds. I found this pattern called a "Joy Fold" and had to try it out as it was perfect for the gift card my daughter was giving her teacher. The image is yet another wonderful Pixie Cottage Stamp found exclusively at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

Karlye ended up writing her own message in the green cardstock area and she also drew a picture for her teacher. I was in such a rush to get her to school that I did not get the chance to take new pictures. But I can tell you she was proud.

Have a happy and serene Saturday,
Hugs

My Second 12x12 Layout

I showed you my first 12x12 layout last week I believe, and now I am happy to add this to my daughter's book. We went to Marineland this summer, and both my girls favorite thing was feeding Bambi! As you can see by their smiles!

This is another layout provided by Ann-Katrin over at Practical Scrappers. They post a sketch every Friday ladies, and you have the whole month to tackle them and enter your takes on them. That is great for me because I am still having issues with all the space a 12x12 page has.

Please feel free to make suggestions as to what I could do differently next time?

Have a great evening,

Frames

Hello, these were the finished frames Karlye and I made for her friends to put in the loot bags. We painted them together, glazed them, and put jems on them. We took a picture at the party, and my husband ran over to the grocery store to develop them. Each child got a prince or princess, and a frame with a group picture in it to remember the fun they had. One mother called to say her son LOVED his picture so much that he ran up to his room to put it on his dresser.
Off to go wrap some presents!

Got my Mojo Finished

Hello,

Today is party day for Karlye, she has been up three days in a row at 5:45 am! She is simply too excited, and I need more coffee as I can not keep up with her excitement.
Here is my creation for this weeks Mojo Monday 116 Challenge. I asked my husband if a sentiment would be better, or the dangling snowflake, well he chose the snowflake, and as a result, I fought to get this attached properly. I had to redo my bow 3 times, and struggle with the o-rings(losing two of them in the carpet). But it is done now, and I think he made the right choice.
Off now to get the girls dance floor put in the basement, for a quick climb on the elliptical, and then off to the party with my girls.
Have a great Sunday,
Hugs,
Tanya

Getting those Christmas cards finished?

Happy Saturday,
WOJ wants us to add sparkle to our creations for challenge #58 , does mine sparkle enough girls? I also used CPS Sketch #145 for this, cutting out the poinsettia, putting my red sparkly star in the middle to add dimension, and finishing it off by placing Willow in the center. I entertained the thought of putting a sentiment on it, but could not find a place on the card that did not make it look overdone. This is the end result, I will put the sentiment inside.

I am behind on my cards, are you? I may have to send out a couple of store bought cards, **GASP**, are any of you in the same boat as me?
Hugs

I am so excited.......

Hello,

The girls had such a busy day, Karly got up at 5:45 this morning very excited to be 5. She went to school and got to wear the crown, and proceeded to wear it all day to. She then had to fast from 10am to 3pm, as she was at CHEO getting an ultrasound. She was brave and all things looked good. She was so tuckered out that she barely made it through dinner at the restaurant. She requested spaghetti, and managed to eat most of it, but all the while she kept asking to go home and go to bed. Both girls fell asleep in the car, and now I am on the computer, briefly, before I go re-decorate the tree with my husband.

I got an email today asking me to be on the Design Team for Practical Scrappers! I am just so excited. Since Kim introduced me to their blog, I have been hooked. They are all about getting us to use what we have in our craft room. They also have sketch challenges, such as the one I used for my very first 12x12 scrapbook page. I hope you all visit, and participate, I can promise you that some of your old dusty supplies will be put to use.

Have a great evening,
Hugs,

A Sketch Challenge at The Pixie Cottage

Once upon a Wednesday the Pixies came out to play, be sure to visit they want you to join in the fun! The Pixie Cottage Challenge this week is a wonderful sketch, the above is my take on it. I just love this Pixie Cottage Santa Stamp, available at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

How many of you are addicted to using liquid applique? I have to say the first time I used it I let it dry on its own, and it did not puff up. I was so disappointed, so I took out my heat gun, as I read this can quicken the drying time, and voila, it puffed out. I am now hooked.

I would really love to see what you all come up with for this sketch, I will be sure to check out your posts over at The Pixie Cottage.

Hugs
Tanya

P.S. Why not use a Christmas Theme using the sketch, Practical Scrappers is looking forward to seeing all your Christmas creations this week.

Warm Thoughts

I hope you are all keeping warm today as it is slowly getting colder. Here is my creation using Whiff of Joy's Sketch by Marga. Red Cardinals are on of my favorite birds. I love their song, it is so pretty. Frosted Designs has asked us to show them our projects that containing Scallops. Hope to see some of your work over there. I have to add Practical Scrappers to this list, they want to see your Christmas creations.

I am feeling rushed lately. With my daughter's fifth birthday this weekend, the list of Christmas cards I have to post, and the wrapping. Not to mention the laundry, the housecleaning, working 5 days a week, sigh. We sure do work hard, don't we ladies?

Anything but a card

Good Morning, today's Saturday Showcase for the Pixie Cottage is to create something that is "Anything but a card". I found this wreathe at the dollar store, and just had to have it. I then gathered up all the acorns my daughters picked up over various outdoor excursions, some fabric leaves and flowers, and glued them on. I took out my chunky black glitter and added it to the pine cone and the tips of the wreathe.
I simply adore The South End Girls line by Andrea T Seiler, so I took my girl out, inked her, and applied my colour. Adding some bling and popping out her dress to make her look pretty.
I am in denial about Christmas being around the corner, hence the fall theme. I have her on my wall now, and I think she is just so pretty.
You can find this stamp at Michelle's Scrapbooking & More, feel free to go on over and look at all the other wonderful Pixie Cottage Stamps. I am sure you will find several to put on your wish list.
Have a great Saturday,
Hugs

Very First 12x12 Layout

This layout is my very first 12x12 layout. I have done 8x8 and 8 1/2 x 11 layouts but never this big. I saw the layout sketch over at Practical Scrappers, and just had to give it a shot. It is rather hard to photograph layouts with pictures on them, something I am going to have to practice.
I stitched, coloured, stamped, and distressed for this one. Using materials that have been sitting around for far too long, which makes me feel good. They have not been wasted, oh and the y in pretty really looks like a v but I promise it was a y. LOL.

Hope you like it, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to improve this, or simply how to work with such a big canvas.

Got my fingers in the Sugar Bowl again

Happy Monday!
I have really enjoyed my day, I got roses from my DH for our 7 year anniversary, and we spent the day shopping and holding hands.
Here is my creation using Marlene's Sketch over at The Sugar Bowl. I added ric-rak ribbon and stitched some panels for the zigzag requirement. I just had to use my Sugar Nellie Manga stamps because these guys are simply too cute!

Practical Scrappers is asking us to submit our Christmas Cards this week. Head over and show em what you got ladies!

Have a great evening!

DoodleFactory Birthday Invitations

Hello,
My youngest is at ballet/tap class, and my eldest is here with me playing games on the computer until it is time to go to her tap class. I of course am sitting on the computer next to her posting last nights work. I made 8 birthday invitations for her 5th birthday party coming up in December. It is a princess/knight party at A Gym's Tale so I made the invitations to go along with the theme. This took me about 4 hours, but worth it of course. I keep one for her so that she has one in her memory box.
We are going to make picture frames to match, and then gift the guests with them after the party, putting in a group photo of them all dressed up. We have little princess/knights to give out as well, I will be sure to post the frames, once completed.
Have a great Saturday,
Hugs

Not only is the Pixie Cottage getting stitchy, so is Practical Scrappers. Be sure to check out both sites, and submit your stitched projects, be it thread or faux!

I got this pattern from www.stitchingcards.com, this was a free pattern and it is such a wonderful site, oh the possibilities.

P.S. WOJ is offering up a wonderful little stamp as candy, drop in and enter.

Getting Stitchy with The Pixie Cottage

I am so excited today because I get to let you guys know that Michelle has asked me to be a guest designer for The Pixie Cottage. Througout the month of December I will get to participate behind the scenes with a wonderful bunch of woman who love using their Pixie Cottage stamps as much as I do.

This weeks challenge is to "Get Stitchy". I love to sew on paper, but I wanted to add a little something to it, so I took my Bazzill Basics cardstock and stitched it with ribbon. I then added a tiny fabric patch to this cuddly cute bear, and finished it by stitching his feet with ebroidery floss. I did two takes on this one, which do you prefer?

Please drop in on this weeks challenge and participate, simply click on the link above, or on the one on my sidebar, and it will take you there. We would love to see you all getting stitchy with us!

Hugs,
Tanya

P.S. Michelle is hosting a card auction on ebay, and all the proceeds go to Toys for Tots. The picture on my sidebar will take you there, please make a bid, the children will be the ones to benefit, and you will get 22 wonderful cards in a fabulous box.

One more Christmas Card added to the pile

Hope you are all crafting and having fun. This card was started last night using the CPS Sketch 143, my plan was to incorporate paper tearing (using my art deckle ruler) that was suggested this week over at Frosted Designs. I had no idea what to put in the middle until Club Anya asked us to Give them the chills. Did any of that make sense to you? LOL If you click on all the links above, you can see what each site would like to see from you this week.

I don't know how much more I will get done this week. I created a card for my Mother's Stampin Up workshop on Wednesday (which I will post tomorrow), and then I have to start on my daughter's birthday invitations. Not to mention spend some time with my husband! Can anyone relate?

I hope your week has started out well,
Hugs

Whiff of Joy Challenge #56

Hello,

Here is my take of the WOJ challenge #56, which was a sketch challenge. I love the Winter 2009 stamps, Elisabeth Bell is one of the most talented ladies. Hop on over and try your hand at their challenges, they are so much fun.

We were up late last night as teenagers decided to kick our door loudly at 10pm. We are feeling rather upset today about this, lack of respect etc. On a more positive note, I was nominated Top Three over at Practical Scrappers this weekend, and my friend Sheena brought me my new Doodlefactory stamps. Silver linings...........

I will be pulling the winner of the Whiff of Joy candy tonight, good luck to all of you, and thank you for leaving me comments and such throughout my blog.

November 2009 Blog Candy

This candy will remain on top until November 21st, 2009. The winner will be announced Sunday November 22cd. Please scroll down for new posts.

Brr it is cold and wet outside today, Willow has the right idea, a nice cup of hot chocolate would hit the spot right about now. The wonderful ladies over at Whiff of Joy have gifted me with this wonderful image of Willow, and I have added a few goodies to go along with her.

Elisabeth Bell is one of my favorite artists, you can see many of her images on my blog. Be sure to look through the Whiff of Joy catalogue, there is so much to tempt you. Not to mention Katharina Frei's blog, the Whiff of Joy Challenge blog and now the Whiff of Joy Inspirations and Tutorial Blog. These girls do keep busy!

Simply leave me a comment if you wish to win Willow, and let others now about the candy. You can become a follower if you wish, but that is totally up to you.

Have a great day,

Cherish those we love

It is voting time. Practical Scrappers is looking for a guest designer, and if you like my watering can, please vote for it, otherwise be honest and vote for the project you like best. Please visit and cast your vote by clicking HERE.

Hello, I hope everyone is having a happy Friday!

Here is something I finished last night. I made the watering can from this tutorial over at Splitcoastampers. It is so versatile, it could even be used as a baby shower gift, simply by changing the design paper.
Whiff of Joy's challenge this week was to use the colours orange, brown and ivory. I LOVE this colour combo. It is funny how tastes change because I certainly did not like brown when I was younger.

I am being reminded lately that I am surrounded by really great people, so I added the word Cherish to one of the leaves. It is so nice to finish something and be proud of it. That does not always happen in my case, being my own worst critic. But I have to say I am in love with this little watering can.

Have a great evening and don't forget to cherish those around you, life is simply too short.
Hugs,
Tanya

P.S. Practical Scrappers is looking for your favorite fall themed project. Be sure to drop in and post yours!

Acrylic Paints on CPS142

Happy Friday,

I was playing around last night with CPS sketch #142. I used my metallic acrylic paint to add a bit of a shimmer to my card. Practical Scrappers is responsible for this! I would never have thought to use it on my cards, they are very good at getting me to use various supplies around my craft room.
I recently participated in a virtual convention on Rubberstampchat.net and won some MFT digital stamps. This is one of them. They are pretty cute, and very different than any other stamps I have. Thank you MFT, I am enjoying the digital stamp adventure.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Tanya

Create a Scene

Hello,
I made a similar card last month, but this time I reversed the DP, and used CPS Sketch #17. (this sketch included a vertical stripe down the left side) I love this paper, and just had to use it again, same goes for the images. Just having too much fun I suppose.

Happy Wednesday,
Hugs,
Tanya

Keeping is simple with a touch of shimmer

What a great day to post my creation for The Pixie Cottage's third challenge. They provided the sketch, I started crafting. It is so hard to get bling to show in a picture, but as you see I was able to get this delicious DP to shimmer for you. Of course I had to dress Miss South End girl up in a pretty party dress too!

I enjoy how clean this looks, I was going to stitch on it, but stopped myself. Sometimes a little goes a long way. This would probably fit into the bling challenge over at Frosted Designs as well.

I volunteered today at Jayme's pre-school. I got to help little people create art, dance and sing. After a rough day yesterday with my two girls fighting and not listening, and scratching the car, I needed the sunshine, and the fun time.
Hugs to you all,
Tanya

All that glitters........

Taking out an older CPS sketch I put this card together. Frosted Designs has a bling it on challenge, so I incorporated glitter and rhinestones together, topping it off with the sentiment "you sparkle". I have been waiting to use this paper since I got it with a magazine this summer. It is my sad attempt to hold on to the lazy hazy days of Summer, when strawberries and cherries were in abundance. Sigh...........

Have a great Sunday,
Hugs,
Tanya

My Fingers in The Sugar Bowl

This sketch was from Judy over at The Sugar Bowl. This weeks challenge was to use the sketch and to incorporate "Thankfulness" into your card. I used my Sugar Nellie Mistletoe stamp to do this, but I cut out the mistletoe, making it seem like they are simply hugging because they are thankful for one another.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving in the fall I decided to use my Stampin Up fall design paper. The sketch was rather busy, so I kept my colours to a minimum as I wanted the characters to stand out. Did it work? I would love to hear what you think.

Have a great Saturday.
Hugs,
Tanya

Card auction for Toys for Tots

Hello,

Michelle is hosting an ebay charity auction at the end of November. If you are willing to donate a holiday themed card (approx. 5.25x4.25 or smaller) contact her at casdanben@aol.com for her address. The proceeds will be going to Toys for Tots. What a great way to help bring happiness into a young child's heart.

I used PWCO #8 sketch for this as I also used one of their stamps. What a darling image, and so much fun to colour.

Have a great evening,

Hugs,
Tanya

Cuddly Cute Pixie Cottage Stamp

Well, this was supposed to be for Michelle's card auction to help raise money for Toys for Tots. However it is supposed to be a holiday card! So I am off to the craft room to get this right! If you have a card laying about, why not send it in. You will be making a little boy or girl very happy, and that is always a nice thing.

Good night,

Tanya

A Card Request

Hello Ladies,

I was asked to make a card for someone having a baby boy. You have heard me say that this is always difficult for me as my stamp collection has very little "serious" baby stamps. But look here, I found some baby boy DP in my stash and some rub-ons. I think it turned out well, and since I have girls, it was nice to use blue for a change.

Enjoy your evening, I am off to my craft room now.

Hugs,
Tanya

This one is for you Joanne

Good Evening,

This one is for my friend Joanne, she lives far away, and her favorite color is green. I tried using my copics and my prisma pencils this time for Whiff of Joy's Sketch Challenge #54. If you take a peek here you will see all sorts of fabulous tips, like the one that taught me I could combine my two coloring mediums.

I hope you like Willow, she is one of my faves. Practical Scrappers is having a white core/color core cardstock challenge this week. I will be sure to post this there as well, as I used my CTMH cardstock, embossed it, and sanded it down.

What a fun night this was,

Hugs,
Tanya

Celebrate! Pixie Cottage Style

Good Morning,

The Pixie Cottage has their second challenge and it was to create a card with "Celebrate" as the theme. I at first was going to enter my cupcake girl, but then I got my Pixie Cottage stamps in the mail along with a sweet message from Michelle, and I just had to use my South End Girl! What a happy day for for me, and I got to celebrate by crafting, thus my card above.

I have to say I saw Risa West's card using browns and she was the inspiration behind my colour scheme. Thank you Risa!

Michelle is such a sweet lady, I hope you all take the time to visit her store, and The Pixie Cottage blog. Why not try a challenge on for size while you are there.

Hugs,
Tanya

Let It Snow and an Ornament

Hello I hope you are all having a good Saturday.

One of the things I love about Christmas has to be the ornaments. I try to make one a year to add to the tree. I will be able to check that off my list now.

I just love Snow Anya. I have been admiring the liquid applique on other cardmakers blogs, and so I had to give it a go. At first it dried shiny, and I thought I bought the wrong stuff. When I added the heat gun to it, man did it puff up. A little goes a long way! I added some liquid pearl to the center of the snowflakes on the paper to add a little dimension, another thing sitting on my shelf waiting for me to use.

Hope you like it,

Hugs,
Tanya
P.S. Sorry about the white spot on her scarf, I will have to go fix that.

Mojo Monday 111 and Kraftin Kimmie Stamps

Hello,

I am home early with my little one in bed having a nap. She broke out in a full blown rash today, but the good news is it is the end of a virus leaving her body. So she is on the mend. Before going to pick up my eldest at daycare, I sat down to post this.

I used my Copic's for this instead of my pencil crayons, and popped her up a bit. The sketch is from the Mojo Monday #111 chalenge. This is my first time using one of Kraftin' Kimmie's stamps, and I think Francesca is pretty darn cute balancing all those cupcakes. I got her from Scrappin Great Deals, she was just too cute and I could not resist. Sigh. Dusting off the Sizzix machine was fun as well, I have not used this die since Karlye's birthday last year. It is nice to use what is laying around my craft room.

Happy Thursday everyone,

Hugs,
Tanya

My Daughters Wish List for Santa

Good Morning,

This was created for FFF's Sketch by Mercy, it was quite fun. I am going to send this one to Santa for my girls as it has their wish list on it.

Hope you are all doing well, my little one is on the mend, she actually slept last night and the cough is subsiding. Something to be grateful for.

Hugs,
Tanya

Stop for a Moment and Help Sread the Love

Hello,

Please stop for a moment and reflect on all the good things we have in our lives. If you can participate in this blog hop, we may just be able to show Jaimie and her father that there is a lot of good left in this world.

Simply click on the image above and it will direct you to the first stop on the blog hop, together we can make a difference, and all it takes is making a card and sending it with love. Something we all enjoy doing.

I have read that she likes pink and black, I chose pink and brown. I hope this card brings a smile to her face when she opens it. For some reason the colours look different on my blog, as I am really tired, I will simply leave it as is. I want to get this out in the mail for tomorrows pick up.

Hugs,

Tanya

Happy Halloween and a Winner!

Happy Halloween everyone,

Karlye chose her own outfit, she is Morticia Adams from "The Adams Family" movies, I think that is very creative for an almost 5 year old. Jayme played it safe, she is a cat. They are out collecting candy, and I am at the door handing it out. What a good time to announce the blog winner.

My daughters got to pick the winner out of a trick or treat bag, and as you can see Kim from http://memoriesinthyme.blogspot.com has won.

Please send me the address you would like your goodies sent to my email address is ruddtanya@gmail.com

Congratulations, we hope you enjoy your treats!

Have a great evening, can you believe it is November 1st tomorrow!

Hugs
Tanya

Playing with Paper

Hello Ladies,

Here is my creation for the WOJ Challenge #53. We were asked to use Red, Creme and one other colour of our choice. As you can see, mine was blue. I also used the Mojo Monday Week# 110 sketch. For this card, I actually put stuffing in the paper and stitched it to make it look like a quilt. This is one puffy card! It is my first attempt at this, another crazy idea of mine.

I got my Winter WOJ set in the mail, and they sent along a thank you stamp with it. Is this mouse not the cutest! Thank you Katharina. Keep your eyes open, sometime in November I may just have a little WOJ sweetness for you.

I will post the winner of my blog candy tonight. My girls want to pull the names out of a hat, and I will take their picture all dressed up for Halloween holding the winners name. It is very rainy today so I think I will bring them to the local Mall, they have a Halloween event and they can stay warm and dry and not have to hide their costume under a bulky coat. One of the things we have to do living in Ottawa! :)

Hugs

The Gift of Giving...More Blog Candy

This Post is now closed, the winner will be announced this evening. Thank you all who left a comment. Happy Halloween!

Did you know that Scrappin' Great Deals, a terrific on-line store, carries Greeting Farm, Gel-a-tins, and the new line of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps? Those are just a few, not to mention her Copic selection and her Spellbinders.

Sheila is friendly, warm, extremely generous, and she has gifted me with two $10 gift certificates for her on-line store. I have added some other goodies to go along with them, to make this all the more sweet.

Leave me a comment, letting me know what you have on your "Wish List", and I will randomly pick a winner on October 30th. Be sure to check out Scrappin' Great Deals. You will want to sign up for her newsletter, Sheila sends out weekly sales information with weekly coupon codes! Oh so tempting I may add. This week's Great Deal was %40 off all in-stock embellishments! The blue logo above will take you right there.

Enjoy,
Tanya
